L-arginine is an endogenous amino acid. It is produced in the body, but can also be taken in with food, e.g. pumpkin, sunflower seeds. Arginine is metabolized into nitric oxide, agmatine and glutamic acid. The latter is necessary for the production of neurotransmitters responsible for maintaining balance.
